BOTANICALS: MONOPRINTS & COLLAGE

As a young child, I have fond memories of going with my grandfather to the nursery in Spring for seeds and bulbs. He taught me about flowers and plants, to look closely at the petals, the curl of a leaf or stem, and to appreciate their fragrance and beauty. I was fascinated and loved them as a child, which later inspired me as an artist. These days my favorite subject matter remains flowers and leaves, tree bark and seed pods. I am captivated by the beauty of the detail in their structure, their line, shape, texture, and the evolution of their life cycle. This new series of work brings me full circle. Botanicals, flowers, and leaves have been a longtime favorite subject for me as a photographer. Over the past several years my work has developed hand-embellised photography and collage, with my imagery still mostly revolving around the beauty of the garden.
